Privacy Policy

Remo ("Remo: Universal TV Remote") is an iPhone app that works as a remote control for your smart TV. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes and what choices you have. In short: Remo talks to your TV directly on your local network, you don't need an account, and we don't use an analytics SDK or sell your data.

Your TVs and your local network

Remo sends the commands you tap (buttons, touchpad gestures, text you type for the TV) straight to your TV over your local Wi‑Fi network. These commands don't pass through our servers; we don't run any servers for this.

Local Network permission

The first time you open Remo, iOS asks whether Remo may find and connect to devices on your local network. Remo needs this permission to discover TVs (using Bonjour and a quick scan of your own network) and to send them commands. It is not used to collect information about other devices. You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network, but Remo can't control your TV without it.

No account

Remo doesn't ask for your name, email address or any login. There is no Remo account.

No analytics SDK

Remo doesn't include a third-party analytics or advertising SDK and doesn't track how you use the remote.

Purchases (RevenueCat)

Some features need a Remo Pro subscription, which you buy through Apple. We use RevenueCat to process and verify purchases and to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated by the app, your purchase history for Remo (products, dates, prices, currency, country/storefront) and basic device and app information needed for this. We don't receive your payment details; Apple handles payment.

Ad attribution (Apple Search Ads and App Tracking Transparency)

We may advertise Remo on the App Store. To learn which ads led to installs, Remo collects the Apple Search Ads attribution token provided by Apple's AdServices framework and sends it to RevenueCat, which uses it to look up the campaign with Apple. This token doesn't identify you personally.

Remo asks once for App Tracking Transparency permission. If you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is also sent to RevenueCat for the same attribution purpose. If you don't allow it, the IDFA isn't collected. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Sharing and selling

We don't sell your data. We only share the data described above with RevenueCat and Apple, and only to process purchases and measure ad attribution. We may disclose information if required by law.

Retention

Data on your iPhone stays there until you remove it or delete the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.

Children

Remo is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Since we don't hold an account for you, most data lives only on your device. For purchase data, email us and we'll help with a request to RevenueCat.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
