Remo can't find your TV, or a button doesn't respond? Most problems are solved by one of the checks below. If not, email us and we'll help.
Please include your TV brand and model, your iPhone model and iOS version. We usually reply within 1–2 business days.
Remo can't find my TV
- Turn the TV on. Most TVs can't be found while they're off or in deep standby.
- Use the same Wi‑Fi. Your iPhone and TV must be on the same network. Guest and public networks usually block devices from seeing each other. On routers with separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, try putting the iPhone on the same one as the TV.
- Allow Local Network access. Open Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network on your iPhone and make sure Remo is switched on.
- Turn off VPNs and "private relay"-style apps on your iPhone while using Remo.
- Restart the TV and the router, then try again.
- Add it by IP address. On the Find your TV screen, tap Add by IP address. You'll find the TV's IP address in its network settings.
First connection: accept or enter a code
Most TVs ask you to approve a new remote once. Remo remembers the TV afterwards.
- Samsung: choose Allow on the TV. If you chose Deny by mistake, open Settings › General › External Device Manager › Device Connection Manager › Device List on the TV, remove Remo and connect again.
- LG: select Accept on the TV. If nothing appears, open Settings › Connection › LG Connect Apps on the TV and turn it on.
- Google TV and Android TV (Sony, Philips Android TV, TCL, Xiaomi, Hisense Google TV models, Chromecast with Google TV and others): the TV shows a 6‑character code (numbers and letters A–F). Type it in Remo.
- Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick: the Fire TV shows a 4‑digit PIN. Type it in Remo. If no PIN appears, restart the Fire TV (Settings › My Fire TV › Restart) and try again.
- Vizio SmartCast: the TV shows a PIN. Type it in Remo.
- Philips (2016 and newer non-Android models): the TV shows a PIN. Type it in Remo. Older Philips models connect without a code.
- Roku and Panasonic: no code needed.
Network control settings by brand
- Roku doesn't respond to buttons: on the Roku open Settings › System › Advanced system settings › Control by mobile apps and set Network access to Default.
- Sony Bravia (non-Android models): open Settings › Network › Home network › IP control, set Authentication to Normal and turn on Remote start.
- LG: make sure LG Connect Apps is on (Settings › Connection).
- Samsung: if Remo was denied, remove it from the Device List as described above.
Turning the TV on
Remo can always turn a TV off. Turning it back on over Wi‑Fi only works on TVs that keep their network running in standby, for example Sony with Remote start enabled, or Android TV and Google TV models with network standby turned on. Other TVs switch their Wi‑Fi off in standby, so no app can wake them over the network.
Typing on the TV
Open a search box or text field on the TV first, then type in Remo's keyboard sheet and tap Enter. Typing works on Samsung Tizen, LG, Sony, Roku, Fire TV, Google TV and Android TV.
Not supported
Hisense TVs that run only VIDAA, and cable or operator set-top boxes. Remo is a remote control and doesn't mirror or cast your iPhone screen.
